No evidence of drug abuse issues at Elon Musk’s SpaceX, says NASA
SpaceX, led by Elon Musk, has not violated workplace regulations related to alcohol and drugs that could pose a threat to its rocket launches and satellite services, as per the information available to NASA.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration clarified on Thursday that there is no evidence of non-compliance from SpaceX regarding the regulations ensuring a drug- and alcohol-free workforce.
In an official statement, NASA emphasized its expectations for commercial partners like SpaceX to adhere to all workplace safety requirements during the execution of missions and the delivery of services to the American people.
The space agency stated, “The agency does not have evidence of non-compliance from SpaceX on how the company addresses the drugs and alcohol-free workforce regulations.”
Concerns regarding the compliance of SpaceX with these regulations surfaced following a report in The Wall Street Journal highlighting Elon Musk’s history of recreational drug use, including substances like ketamine, LSD, cocaine, ecstasy, and psychedelic mushrooms.
NASA clarified that it actively enforces and verifies compliance with alcohol and drug-free workplace contract clauses. These clauses mandate contractors to uphold a “robust and effective” corporate culture and safety program.
The statement underscores the importance of maintaining a high standard of safety and adherence to regulations in the aerospace industry, particularly in the context of government contracts.
