This co-star of Shah Rukh Khan reveals he invited her to meet him, says ‘Didn’t go because…’

Deepshikha Nagpal is a renowned actress whose contribution to Indian television and films is irreplaceable. She appeared in various films across the 1990s and 2000s. The actress recently spoke about her film career and how Shah Rukh Khan contributed in shaping that. She shared that despite being offered many opportunities to play the lead roles in movies, the actress played a supporting role in Baadshah, which was given to her following the recommendation of the actor.

Deepshikha, in a new interview, revealed that after she played a negative role in Koyla, filmmakers started stereotyping her in movies. She said that she was still getting great offers in television. During a candid chat with Siddharth Kannan, the actress said, “I did Koyla and Shah Rukh Khan recommended my name in Baadshah and I got to know about that later. I started getting those Mona darling type roles after Baadshah and I said I don’t want to do all those things.”

Deepshikha, in the film Baadshah, essayed the character of Rani. Rani works for the villain, played by Amrish Puri, and is given a task to kill the lead detective played in the film. Recalling the incident when SRK called her for a meeting during the making of Om Shanti Om, Deepshikha said, “I remember Shah Rukh was hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati and I went to meet him with my children. He was very busy and he told me that he was going to be shooting for a month for Om Shanti Om and he asked me to come and meet him. I couldn’t gather the courage to go and meet him. I thought ‘what if he doesn’t speak to me? What if they don’t allow me in?’ It was that feeling of inferiority because of which I did not go.”

Deepshikha appeared in many television shows including Palkon Ki Chhaon Mein 2 and Na Umra Ki Seema Ho. The actress also intrigued everyone with her performance in Koyla, Badshaah and Rishtey.
