‘That look, that hug is…’: Deepika Padukone on her bond with ‘Pathaan’ co-star Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone are known for being the bestest of friends in the industry and share a bond that extends beyond their on-screen camaraderie. Deepika, who made her Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om, went on to work on several hit films with him, including Happy New Year, Chennai Express, and Pathaan and Jawan in the recent times.
The two are even seen supporting each other a lot and remaining present at family gatherings. While the two are often seen expressing their fondness for each other, Deepika once opened up about her bond with SRK, further reflecting on the advice that the Dunki actor gave her.
In an interview with Atika Farooqui, Deepika began by noting how Shah Rukh shared a lot of wisdom with her while working on their first time together, i.e., Om Shanti Om. Deepika, while mentioning that she was merely 21 at the time, said, “He used to say, ‘Baby, always remember to work with people you know you’re going to have a good time with, where you know you’re going to enjoy yourself.’ Anyone who knows Shah Rukh knows that he’s full of wisdom, and for me, that was a huge learning.”
She further shared that working with Shah Rukh Khan at the age of 21 was filled with daily doses of wisdom and that the valuable lesson served as a guiding principle for her.

The actress also spoke about the bond that they share, adding that words aren’t needed between certain people.
“We are not in touch every day. I engage with him the most obviously, but it’s when we’re working on a movie. But that hug and that look are very special. What he and I share, or at least what I share with him, is extremely precious and extremely special. I call him when I am confused or stuck. He’s always there. If he’s going through something in his life, I meet him and say, ‘I know. I understand.”
Notably, while Deepika shares a very strong bond with SRK, she is also very connected with his family and often attends the Khan family’s events with her husband, actor Ranveer Singh.
