On 7 January, the much-awaited two-day Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet (GIM) organised by the government began at Chennai Trade Centre. There will be over 30 participating countries and 9 partner countries in this edition.
In a video message, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani declared his commitment to investing more in green hydrogen and renewable energy projects in Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu, according to Ambani, has always had a strong cultural and intellectual legacy.
Its wealth has increased significantly due to its shining advancements in manufacturing, agriculture, and services, as well as contributions to India’s overall success and prosperity.
He said that Tamil Nadu has developed into one of the nation’s most business-friendly states under Chief Minister MK Stalin’s direction.
That’s why, according to Ambani, he has every reason to think that it will soon become a trillion dollar economy—a fitting motto for this conference.
One of the Stalin administration’s most often used catchphrases since May 2021 has been “a $1 trillion economy.”
Ambani continued, “Reliance has opened nearly 1,300 retail stores across the state, investing over Rs. 25,000 crores, proudly partnering in Tamil Nadu’s growth over the years.”
In addition, he mentioned that Jio has made over Rs. 35,000 crores in investments in Tamil Nadu, enabling 35 million users in all of the state’s towns and villages to benefit from the digital revolution.
According to Ambani, Jio completed the quickest 5G rollout globally in December, allowing Tamil Nadu to benefit from cutting-edge technology of the fourth industrial revolution, including artificial intelligence, which would further boost the state’s economy.
The US-based company Digital Reality and Canada’s Brookfield Asset Management have teamed up with Reliance to build a cutting-edge data centre, which is scheduled to launch next week.
Reliance has promised to increase its green hydrogen and renewable energy initiatives in Tamil Nadu.
“We shall work closely with the state government to promote sustainable development, which is necessary to save Mother Earth from the climate crisis,” he stated.
Additionally, he expressed his confidence that the state government will back their next projects with workable policies.
He wished everyone a spectacular success on the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet.
Although there have been two prior GIM editions in Tamil Nadu, in 2015 and 2019, this would be the first one hosted during the Stalin administration.
