Shah Rukh Khan says Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki’s success reiterates that he should ‘continue to act’

After going on a hiatus for four years, Shah Rukh Khan made a banger comeback to the big screen with not one but three hits: Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki. He arrived like a storm and proved his dominance at the box office. Having ruled 2023 with these three blockbusters, Shah Rukh Khan was recently named the Indian of the Year Award at the CNN News 18 Indian Of The Year 2023 Awards. The actor, while receiving the award, delivered a heartfelt speech and thanked his fans and supporters. He shared he’s “grateful” for the love everyone gave to his films in 2023.

Notably, the actor has been credited for bringing life to the theatres, especially after Bollywood went through a low phase after the pandemic and saw back-to-back flops. Speaking on the same lines, SRK said that his films’ performance at the box office is a reiteration of the fact that he should continue to act.

Shah Rukh Khan on bringing the audience back to theatres

Recalling the post-pandemic times, the actor said, “It was really bad times. We call it post-pandemic time. The theatres were running empty, specifically the Hindi-speaking theatres. Yes, they (South) do make larger-than-life films. Hindi films perhaps had started making cinema which was a little more middle of the road. But there is now a youthful audience. We are one of the youngest countries in the world and I guess, they want things which are bigger, better, faster, superior, over the top, a little noisy, and happier.”

Further adding that he cannot take on the responsibility of bringing audiences back to theatres, he expressed gratitude for being a part of the films that “started the trend of Hindi cinema being watched again.”

‘A reiteration of the fact that I should act’: SRK

Further, speaking on his films’ massive collections at the box office, Shah Rukh shared how people from all over the world came out to him and showed their support. “People called me from all over the world and said, ‘We wanted to come out for Jawan, Pathaan, and just be supportive of what you do as an actor’. I think this is way beyond the films. Pathaan is fantastic, Jawan is lovely, and Dunki is beautiful. It is not a comeback; it is the reiteration of the fact that I belong and that I should continue to act,” he added.
