Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Netflix is set to open the doors to his first, star-studded series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, in 2024 on Netflix.

Step into the world of Heeramandi… where courtesans were once queens:

In the midst of a power struggle in Heeramandi, a young heir caught in the crossfire chooses love over succession, disrupting the status quo. Set in pre-independent India against a burgeoning freedom movement, the final thread holding the art of tawaifs (courtesans) is put to the test.

Hailed as the grandest and most-awaited series of the year, the creative visionary, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is set to unveil his 14-year passion project in collaboration with Netflix, to global audiences.

The series by Bhansali Productions comprises a cast of sparkling heeras, including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chadha, and Sanjeeda Sheikh.

While details were under wraps, not surprising since Bhansali has always chosen to work privately and passionately until he is ready to present it to the world, a source revealed last year that a massive set of close to 1,60,000 sq. ft had been constructed for the series. The director was personally looking into its minutest details. From the actor’s looks, the intricacies on set, to the art design, the lighting with every scene hoping to capture a different visual vignette.

This OTT release from Sanjay Leela Bhansali could raise the bar for other digital releases, and one should expect nothing short but spectacular.
