Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu revealed in 2022 she was suffering from a disease called myositis, and shook her fans when she broke the news she was taking a break from acting to focus on her health. In her recent Instagram stories, she credited Ozone therapy for her treatment.
The actress has also thanked Dr. Samir Purohit with whom she recently underwent an EMS session.
What is Ozone therapy?
Ozone therapy is an alternative medical treatment that introduces ozone or ozonides to the body. The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) prohibits all medical uses of ozone “in any medical condition for which there is no proof of safety and effectiveness”, stating “ozone is a toxic gas with no known useful medical application in specific, adjunctive, or preventive therapy.
Ozone therapy has been sold as an unproven treatment for various illnesses, including cancer, a practice which has been characterized as “pure quackery”.[2] The therapy can cause serious adverse effects, including death.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu revealed that she has been diagnosed with an autoimmune condition known as myositis back in 2022. Samantha gave an update on her health in her latest Instagram post. Thanking her fans on the response to the trailer of her film Yashoda, Samantha also wrote that the doctors were “confident” that she will make a full recovery soon.
In the post, The Family Man 2 star can be seen making a heart with her hands as the camera captures her back. “A few months back I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called Myositis. I was hoping to share this after it had gone into remission. But it is taking a little longer than I hoped. I am slowly realising that we don’t always need to put up a strong front. Accepting this vulnerability is something that I am still struggling with,” she wrote.
