Red Sea IFF 2023: Will Smith paid $1 million to attend the festival, Gwyneth Paltrow takes home a bigger cheque
This year’s edition of Red Sea International Film Festival saw a sea of massive movie stars across the globe, from Will Smith to Gwyneth Paltrow to Johnny Depp to Ranveer Singh to Alia Bhatt. Coming to Smith and Paltrow, they charged almost a bomb to grace the festival with their electric presence.
A report by Variety says Smith was paid $1 million to attend the festival whereas Platrow charged even more. That’s not all, the Hitch star was also put up at the luxury Assila hotel in Jeddah. He even spoke exclusively to Firstpost about his journey as an actor.
When asked when he realised he wanted to be an actor, he said, “About fifteen years ago my mother was digitizing all the images and he asked me…Do you notice anything? Then she told me, “See there is not a single picture where you are not looking directly at the camera. You always knew where the camera was and when the camera came up you looked straight at the camera.”
He added, “So, I realised that I always enjoyed being in front of the camera. And I live off the energy and inspiration that people give me. Acting is what I loved my entire life and it is a kind of an energy bulb in me which keeps me going.”
Smith believes in following his instincts when choosing a role. He thinks that his characters in movies should be something that is universally relatable and something that is emotionally relevant. You have to relate to something from the seed of the idea. That is when you grow as an actor.
