Raveena Tandon reveals Karan Johar still holds her accountable for not doing Kuch Kuch Hota Hai: ‘Kajol was my…’
Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji starrer Kuch Kuch Hota, which marks the directorial debut of Karan Johar, still holds a special place in our hearts. While everyone knows that before Rani Mukerji, Twinkle Khanna was approached for the character of Tina, it is rare info that Raveena Tandon was also approached for the same role by KJo.
“Till date, Karan (Johar) holds me accountable for not doing Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (Rani Mukerji’s part). I was like, ‘Yar tu mujhse aur kuchh bhi kara le.’ In fact, there was a Dharma film that Varun Sood and I were supposed to do together, but unfortunately, it didn’t happen,” Raveena told HT.
Revealing the reason behind rejecting the film, she added, “Karan still doesn’t forgive me for not doing Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. But he didn’t understand at that time. Kajol was my contemporary. We started together, we were both doing lead roles. So, I couldn’t have done a Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, where I was at a lower… where I probably had a smaller role like Rani.” Interestingly, the Hichki actress went on to bag the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress trophy for her portrayal of Tina in one of the mega-blockbusters of all time
