Ram Gopal Varma reviews ‘Animal’, says ‘Want to lick Ranbir Kapoor & Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s feet’
Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal enjoyed a hype around itself. Beginning right from its announcement to the film’s release, the Ranbir Kapoor starrer created a stir among the audience and is still making waves. Already making a big stride at the box office in India, the bombastic action film shows Ranbir Kapoor in one of his finest roles, gaining reviews from fans, critics, and even celebrities.
While many called out the film for making a hero out of a misogynist, violent man, a section of people are showering praises for the actors’ performance in the film. This also includes director Ram Gopal Varma who had nothing but mouth full of praises for the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial.

Through a blog, RGV began by speaking about Animal’s box office run, stating that it can trigger a cultural switch through its “bare naked honesty.” Further mentioning a few major scenes in his review, Ram Gopal Varma compares a crucial pre-interval sequence in the film to Michael Jackson’s ‘Beat It’. He also appreciated Ranbir Kapoor’s nude appearance in the film stating that it was a “genius idea” to show Vijay celebrating his perfectly regained health by walking nude in the open.
RGV also praised director Sandeep Reddy Vanga‘s work and said, “Please, send a photo of your feet so that I can touch them for the following reasons: You completely shattered every rule of what all conventional filmmakers believed from the point of time, the professional camera was invented. From Alfred Hitchcock to Steven Spielberg to many directors of today, who believe that both film and scenes should be as short as possible to make a point, you took your own sweet time in their throats. I loved every second of your length (pun intended).”

Further, praising Ranbir Kapoor’s role as Ranvijay Singh, the director said that he wants to lick the actor’s feet and kiss Vanga, further adding that he has never seen such consistency in an actor’s performance.
“From the trailers, I was secretly worried about Ranbir going a little over the top. But this is the first time that I both as a filmmaker and just as a viewer after watching the film, was completely not sure whether his performance was taking over the character or the character was making the performance work. But I have never ever seen more consistency in an actor’s portrayal of a character in my entire career except for that single scene where he asks the mole to lick his shoes,” he said.
