Rakul Preet Singh reveals she was doing Disha Patani’s role in ‘M.S. Dhoni’, says ‘Everything was finalised and then…’

Rakul Preet Singh is an actor that has dabbled with both Hindi and south films in the last many years of her career. The actress recently completed a decade in the Hindi film industry. She made her debut with Yaariyaan in 2014. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, she revealed how she has juggled between the industries and how she had to leave Neeraj Pandey’s film M.S. Dhoni- The Untold Story.

She said, “Initially it was very tough. I was shooting for De De Pyaar De here after like a gap of four years, because I was constantly working there. So I couldn’t find time for doing films here. I couldn’t do MS Dhoni because of dates.”

Singh added, “I had signed Dhoni, everything was done, fittings were done and then they pushed the schedule by 20 days. And I couldn’t, because at that time I had Bruce Lee that was going to release and we had to shoot a song. I was doing two films simultaneously with Ram Charan and Jr NTR. So, I could not have taken out dates in that schedule, it was an outdoor. I have cried saying ‘how could…’. So, there were 2-3 films that, at that point I was so packed, I couldn’t do.”

On OTT as a platform

In an exclusive interview with Firstpost, Rakul said, . “It’s the best platform to tell a story like this. When you tell a story about a subject that’s still taboo, you’re not sure whether people are going to come to the cinemas or not. But with a digital platform, even if they are not comfortable watching the film with the family, they can always watch it alone and then get impacted. To reach your target audience, you need to have the right medium; and with Zee5’s reach even to the tier two and tier three cities,, it’s a win win situation for us.”
