Karmma Calling Review: Raveena Tandon’s performance couldn’t save a bland and predictable plot

Language: Hindi

Cast: Raveena Tandon,Varun Sood,Namrata Sheth

Raveena Tandon’s Karmma Calling was like watching the 90s serial with no gripping content. With OTT giving us such engaging content and most importantly women centric content, this show was a complete disaster. It’s indeed a tacky and lazily made revenge drama.

The story of Disney+ Hotstar’s Karmma Calling is about a young single woman who becomes the mysterious neighbour of Indrani Kothari (Raveena Tandon), the most powerful woman in the cloistered enclave of the super-rich, Alibag. Karmma (Namrata Sheth) is there to avenge her father who Indrani and her family wrongly framed him as a criminal. Karmma is all out to give justice to her dead father and her main target is the Kothari family.

As far as the performance goes, a brilliant performer like Raveena Tandon who has given the viewers so many good shows and films on OTT and on the big screen looked raw in her performance. The story line was not well thought and the immature performances of all the actors was a bigger disaster. It looked like all of them needed to go back to their acting schools.

Still from Karmma Calling

Taken from The American hit show ‘Revenge’ couldn’t match up to the Indian sensibility. Set in Alibag the show in their very immature way talks about the frivolous yet powerful rich crowd of the place and their life. When you are depicting that class of people there should be a certain panache in the way they carry themselves, but neither their attires, their fashion sense or their conduct showed any style.

If I am talking about a fashion arc, Namrata Sheth and Raveena Tandon’s outfits were downright tacky. When it came to the acting too, the actors including the senior ones lacked any individual style. It looked like a typical Saas Bahu soap opera. In a nutshell nothing actually worked for the show which makes it even one time watch worthy.

Rating: ½ out of 5
