Karan Johar on people trolling Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh for ‘open relationship’ remark: ‘I was angry’

After appearing in the very first episode of Karan Johar’s Koffee with Karan Season 8, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh continued to remain in the headlines for several weeks. The opening episode of the brand-new season became the talk of the town for various reasons including Deepika talking about being in an open relationship with Ranveer Singh and casual dating among other things.

While the episode is also one of the most popular ones, host Karan Johar also believes that it is the best one that they had to date. Speaking up on the criticism that the couple faced following the Koffee with Karan episode, Karan Johar recently came out in the defense, slamming the trolling.

While addressing the instances of social media trolling in the latest episode with Arjun Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur, Karan Johar noted that the first episode was one of the most honest and heartfelt episodes on Koffee with Karan.

“I think all the three of us came clean on so much of our emotional heft and our feelings. Then there were ridiculous kinds of aftereffects. I just want to put it out there that the episode angered me and the reaction angered me. I thought it was one of the best episodes. They were outstanding and honest, they were honest they spoke so much and shared so much,” he said further hitting out at rulers for making comments on some people’s personal life and marriage.

Seemingly angry upon the reactions that episode received, Karan said, “What do you know about somebody else’s personal life and marriage? ‘Look at what’s happening at your own home’ This is what I want to tell them and tell them to just shut up.”

For the unversed, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone were the first guests on the ongoing season of Koffee with Karan. From spilling a lot of beans about their relationship, their personal life, and their professional life, the two had a great time on the couch. Apart from apart, the couple also shared their wedding video for the very first, leaving the host overwhelmed.
