Eight off Hartley’s 18th over, six of which are collected by Iyer in the fourth delivery after getting a half tracker from the left-arm spinner that he promptly pulls over deep midwicket. Rahul, meanwhile, goes for a short-arm pull off a short delivery from Wood at the start of the following over. Wood then attempts another short delivery outside off, only this time the ball doesn’t climb as much and is tapped away towards point by Iyer for a single. Wood, meanwhile, has been losing his balance in his follow through and falling over on quite a few occasions across the past two days.

Rahul gets going against the pacer with back-to-back boundaries, the first one coming off a streaky inside edge that carries the ball wide of the keeper with the second one punched through point. Rahul then pulls a short ball two balls later behind square to make it three boundaries in what is Wood’s third over across to days.

The deficit, meanwhile, is less than 100 now for the hosts, who also go past 150.

Rahul’s gone past Gill’s score and has reduced India’s deficit to 101.

None of the fielders had any idea where the ball was in the first place.

India vs England Day 2 Live: India trail England by 127 runs after first day of action in the opening tests of the five-match series at Hyderabad, but are in the driver’s seat with nine wickets still to fall. Despite winning the toss, England were only able to make 246 as their poor batting against spin was exposed. Opener Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett gave them a flying start, bringing up 50 in just 11 overs, but from there it was the Indian spinners who ruled the roost.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra took three wickets together in the first session to become the highest wicket-taking pair for India in Tests. Axar Patel joined the party in the second session and finished with two wickets a England were bowled out for 246. Ashwin and Jadeja took three each, while Jasprit Bumrah also had two including the wicket of Ben Stokes, who was deceived by a brilliant slower ball.
In reply, Yashasvi Jaiswal was the star batter for India as he smashed 76 not out off 74 balls and showed that there are no spin demons in the pitch. While the Bazball failed in the first innings, Jaisball entered the large crowd that had gathered at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.
He had an opening partnership of 80 with captain Rohit Sharma who scored 24 and fell to Jack Leach, Shubman Gill was not out on 14 as India were 119/1 from 23 overs at Stumps on Day 1.
