India’s Republic Day parade at New Delhi’s Kartavya Path put the spotlight on ‘nari shakti’ (women power), highlighting the important role they play across sectors — from village industry, maritime sector, defence, science to space technology.

The parade enthralled French president Emmanuel Macron and other guests who were in attendance at the event.

The Republic Day parade also saw for the first time an all-women contingent of Army, Air Force and the Navy marching in the parade. Moreover, a band of 112 women artistes began the parade with an ‘Aavaahan’, an enchanting performance that featured an array of Indian musical instruments sourced from different corners of the country.

Here are some glimpses of women stealing the show at the parade.
