FBI Director Christopher Wray meets CBI chief Praveen Sood in Delhi
FBI Director Christopher Wray held a meeting with CBI Director Praveen Sood on Monday and discussed topics related to achieving greater cooperation in cyber-related financial crimes, among others.
Wray and senior officials arrived at the agency headquarters at 2:07 pm for the scheduled meeting.
His two-day visit to the national capital includes meetings with top officials from Indian security and law enforcement establishments.
The discussions between Sood and Wray likely encompassed various topics, such as the exchange of information on cybercrime cases, narcotics, pending judicial requests, and the extradition of wanted criminals.
The high profile visit is taking place in the backdrop of Washington’s allegations about an Indian link to a foiled plot to kill a Sikh separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun on the American soil. India has formed a probe team to investigate these allegations.
Last week, US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti highlighted Wray’s visit, emphasising recent high-profile visits by senior US officials to India.
In response to queries about Wray’s trip, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that the visit is part of ongoing bilateral cooperation in cybersecurity, counter-terrorism, and counter-narcotics.
Bagchi highlighted the robust collaboration and engagement in capacity-building programs between Indian and US agencies.
