‘Animal’ director Sandeep Reddy Vanga lashes out at critics, says ‘They are illiterate, uneducated’
Despite being one of the biggest blockbusters of the year, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal was criticised for its violence, length, and many other issues. Addressing the same in an interview with Connect FM Canada, the filmmaker lashed out at film reviewers and gave them an earful.
Vanga exploded, “You’re making money, fame, name, everything by criticising my film, then go ahead. That’s what happened with most of the critics during Kabir Singh. Their shot to fame was criticising ‘Kabir Singh’…Nobody speaks about the craft, the editing, sound design, because they are literally illiterate, uneducated when it comes to films. They have no sense of how to criticise the film or review the film.”
The filmmaker added, “In a way, I understood their mental status and their IQ…If morality comes into the picture, then you can’t make this film. “If everybody is going to focus just on the morality, we should stop making films. Let’s just make cartoons.”
In a recent interview, the filmmaker revealed he showed the 60-year-old Ranbir Kapoor at the beginning of the movie as he has plans for Part 2 and 3 of Animal.
However, the beginning of production of the third part remains uncertain as the shooting of Animal Park (part 2) is scheduled for 2026. Before the sequel, Vanga has Spirit with Prabhas and an untitled film with Allu Arjun. While the shooting of Salaar is expected to begin in September 2004, the launch date of Allu Arjun starrer is yet to be disclosed.
Also starring Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, Tripti Dimri, Upendra Limaye, Suresh Oberoi, Prem Chopra and others, Animal clashed with Vicky Kaushal, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra starrerSam Bahadur, which is directed by Meghna Gulzar of Raazi and Chhapaak fame.
