Animal box office: Ranbir Kapoor-Rashmika Mandanna starrer takes bumper opening, beats Pathaan, Tiger 3 & Gadar 2

Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Animal has taken a monstrous opening at the box office. Despite clashing with Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur, the action-thriller turned out to be the first choice for the cinegoers. As per the early estimates, Animal has raked in Rs 50 to 52 crore in Hindi version and Rs 10 to 11 crore in dubbed south versions. It now stands with a grand total of Rs around 60 crore.

With this, it has emerged as the second highest of 2023 and all-time after Jawan (Rs 75 crore) beating Pathaan (Rs 57 crore), Tiger 3 (Rs 44.50 crore) and Gadar 2 (Rs 40.10 crore). The collections are extraordinary since it has clashed with another Bollywood film and has got ‘A’ certification, which itself cuts its major footfalls.

Looking at the current scenario, Animal is expected to earn between Rs 140 to Rs 150 crore in its opening weekend at the box office.

Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga of Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy fame, the film also features Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, Prem Chopra, Suresh Oberoi and others.

Talking about the review, Firstpost gave the film 3.5 stars and wrote, “The runtime of Animal is over 3 hours and 20 minutes and I can assure you there won’t be any moment where you feel the movie is boring. Throughout the film something is happening which will keep you hooked to the screens and the credit goes to Vanga’s superb editing skills and storytelling.

Talking about the performances, Ranbir Kapoor lives in and out to deliver one of his career-defining roles. Honestly, I wouldn’t have ever imagined that after being Bunny and Mickey from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, RK would go so dark, gore and violent and do this crazy stuff with Animal and that too like a boss.”
