India made three changes to their playing XI on Friday for the second Test against England at Visakhapatnam as Rajat Patidar made his Test debut. India also brought in Kuldeep Yadav and Mukesh Kumar. While two of those changes were forced for India with KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja missing due to injuries, Mohammed Siraj was left out to manage the pacer’s workload.
The BCCI has announced Siraj has been released from the squad for the second Test and will rejoin the Indian team for third Test at Rajkot.
“UPDATE: Mr Mohd. Siraj has been released from the India squad for the second Test against England in Vizag,” BCCI said. “The decision was taken keeping in mind the duration of the series and the amount of cricket he has played in recent times.
“He will be available for selection for the third Test in Rajkot.
“Avesh Khan has re-joined the team for the 2nd Test.”
